When it comes to comfortable seating, whether in the home or out at a restaurant, a bar stool may be just what you need for your own comfort. There are many places where you can sit on a bar stool, and if it is your own home, you have the choice as to what type of bar stool you have.
Types of Bar Stool
There are many kinds of bar stool. Some are made for using at a high table. These may be higher than some other types of bar stool, but they can also offer a lot of comfort. When the bar stool has a good amount of padding and a back to it, it can offer even more comfort than a regular dining chair. Looking for the perfect bar stool set to complement your home will also entail looking for comfort and ease of use.
You will be able to look at many types of bar stool. There are even adjustable ones available. These can be adjusted according to the height of the person using them or according to the height of the table or counter they are used at. Using an adjustable bar stool will give you the advantage of adjusting your comfort level.
There is also a type of bar stool that is made with the beauty of your home in mind. These are meant to complement your other furnishings and add to the peaceful and welcoming atmosphere of your home. They are available in many colours, padded for extra comfort, or made of wood with solid wood seats. They also come in metals and with accents that can be matched to other decorative accents in your home.
Bar Stool for Extra Seating and Easy Storage
When you want the convenience of having extra seating readily available, a bar stool would be a good option. Using a bar stool at the counter, or even as an extra seat in the living room, will make your guest feel comfortable and welcome. There is even the option of buying a folding bar stool. This makes storage easy and having the extra seating available in the form of a comfortable and easily accessible folding bar stool will make having guests even easier.
Fitting a Bar Stool into Your Budget
When you are on a budget, buying a bar stool or two is easily affordable. There is a wide range of prices, as well as a wide range of styles to choose from. When you go shopping for a bar stool, you may want to look around for the best deal possible. Some companies may even offer a rebate. Using wise shopping skills will ensure you find the best bar stool for your situation, at a price you can afford.
Accessorising With a Bar Stool
Using a bar stool to add something that may be missing to your home may enhance the style you have already tried to achieve in your home. A bar stool may be used to accentuate the other furniture and accessories you have decorated with, and it is versatile enough to be used as a corner table or to seat a beloved teddy bear or doll for decoration. Convenience, ease of use, and storage; that is what a bar stool has to offer.

Barstools come in many shapes and sizes. They also are made of many different materials. Solid wood barstools have advantages over other materials because of their durability, aesthetic, and construction. Here’s how it all breaks down:
Solid Wood Barstools – Durability
Solid wood barstools are typically made of very durable woods such as oak, cedar, even burl. These woods add durability and longevity to the life of your barstools. They won’t fall apart quickly and can stand up to Mother Nature (i.e. rain, snow, wind, sun). Cheaper woods end up deteriorating quicker and can even collapse from under you. So stick with higher end woods when it comes to barstools.
Aesthetic of Solid Wood Barstools
Wood bar stools have an aesthetic all their own. They offer a natural look that is available in light and dark hues. They can also be shaped into many different designs and shapes that add to the look and beauty of the stools.
Solid Wood Barstool Construction
Because of the durability of hard wood, the construction of barstools is often better. That’s because solid wood requires durable screws, nails, and composites. Hard wood barstools often cost more to make because of the high price of those types of wood. Although expensive, this leads to better construction. You do get what you pay for.
Where to Buy Wood Stools
You can buy wood stools just about anywhere, including local home furnishing stores and even online. In fact, the Internet is a great place to start. You’ll find all sorts of styles, designs, and wood makes. However, when you’re shopping online for solid wood barstools, be sure to check the type of wood they’re made of. Lower end woods can easily be made to resemble high-end woods. So verify before you buy.
Sold wood barstools are the way to go. You don’t want to spend any dollar amount on stools that will end up falling apart in just a few months. If you want stools that will last, hard wood bar stools are the ticket. Don’t let your stools let you down.
Whether you’re replacing your current barstools or buying new barstools for the first time, swivel bar stools should be on the top of your list to consider. Swivel barstools give you and your guests back and forth movement when you sit down. This is especially good if your bar is over a nice hardwood floor or a delicate carpet. Swivel barstools prevent your bar stools from being dragged back along the floor when you need to sit. Most bar stools are heavy, which prevents tipping, but can leave deep gouges in nice flooring when treated roughly.
Unless you’re ordering from a company that caters specifically to restaurants and bars, most bar stools are designed for home use. Therefore, it’s important to look for quality and durability now matter who’s in your household. Be sure to check the warranty and manufacturer when you order online or buy from a furniture store. Whether you pick the perfect delicate wrought iron swivel barstool or a rough and tumble sports-themed barstool for the den, your sure to have a long lasting barstool when you shop with your lifestyle in mind.

When it comes to finding and buying chairs or stools for your bar business there are several simple things you need to keep in mind before making that fateful purchase. Furniture for your bar, pub, or restaurant is a sizeable investment. There is no room for mistakes when making large purchases such as this. So what can you do to make the process a little more painless?
Try Before you Buy
You want your customers to be comfortable. People who feel comfortable in your business are more likely to return. If they feel comfortable enough they are going to tell their friends and invite them to come along. Sit in the furniture before you buy it. Sit in it a while. There are many chairs that are comfortable for a few minutes. An average evening out for a meal and good conversation is going to last at least an hour. It is highly recommended that you try the chair out for at least half that time, if not a full hour in order to see if it is comfortable for the duration.
You can further improve upon that by having people of various heights, weights, and proportions try out the bar chairs as well. You want a chair that is comfortable for as many variables as possible since your customers do not typically come in one size.
Make Sure the Chair is the Right Height
This may sound simplistic but there are variations that make bar chairs and stools that may offer seating at the same height inappropriate or poor fits for bars or bar tables. Make sure to measure at least twice in order to determine whether or not the bar chair is a proper fit for your individual situation.
You want to insure that the bar chairs will fit comfortably beneath the bar or tables while allowing plenty of leg room, swivel room, and breathing room. You always want to make every possible effort to insure the comfort of your guests.
Measure Your Space
You need to know how much space you have available between tables, how much space the chairs you’ve selected occupy and how many tables and chairs will fit. If your business is a restaurant or a bar then you want to be able to get as many people as possible into that space comfortably. This means you will want bar chairs and stools that occupy a smaller profile. The more people you can serve at any given time the greater your potential for profit.
In other words, chairs that are space hogs are generally not ideally suited to greater profits unless you are going for a very specific clientele and need these types of chairs in order to cater to your target customer.
Get at Least Two Positive Opinions
You need to have at least two people, other than yourself, take a seat, have a look, and give an opinion of the bar chairs that you are considering for your restaurant, club, pub, or bar. The goal is not to keep going until you have two positives but to have to more positive than negative opinions.
You may believe you have excellent tastes and talents when it comes to selecting bar chairs and décor. The problem is that your tastes may not be moderate enough to appeal to a larger audience. Sometimes it is best to hire professional designers and/or decorators in order to find the right furniture for your business needs. Getting feedback and opinions of others is a wise method of determining whether or not might benefit from these beneficial services.
See the Bar Chair with the Bar Before Buying
You may need to purchase one chair in order to do this but spending the money on one chair that will not work for you is much more cost effective than having an entire bar filled with bar chairs that do not work well or look right inside the bar. See the chair in the surroundings that it will ultimately occupy. This will let you know of any coloration issues, height issues, wood grain issues, or simple style issues before making the costly mistake of buying furniture for your bar that does not contribute to the atmosphere you are trying to create.
Compare Prices
There are many businesses that sell furniture for bars, restaurants, clubs, and pubs. It makes sense that while the prices may be relatively similar there are differences from one business to the next that make doing business with one supplier more beneficial than doing business with another. Compare not only the price on the sales tag but also bonus gifts, shipping, and replacement policies as well as the price of warranties, extended warranties, and other incidental expenses that go along with the bar chairs you will be buying. You might find that a supplier that provides a higher price tag on the furniture is actually a better deal over all. This tip alone can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars on your bar furniture purchase.
Don’t Buy the First Bar Chair You Find
You will be amazed at how many people go and pick the first bar chairs they come across to go in their businesses. Your bar furniture is important for many reasons. It is very important that you put a good deal of care and thought into the furniture you purchase. You need to look around. While you may ultimately go back to the first bar furniture you set your sights on you may also find something that is infinitely better by spending a little time shopping around. You should also avoid making impulse buys. Think about your options for at least a full day before making your purchase.
These 7 tips will help you find the best possible bar chairs for your business. Read them over and memorize them before ever attempting to go out and buy furniture for your bar business. They will save you many hassles, headaches, bad decisions, and could actually save you a great deal of money.

Have you ever thought of finishing your basement into a stylish home bar area? Many people have had this idea and are now reaping the benefits of their own home bar for less money and effort than you think.
Of course, you want your home bar to have the perfect lighting and accessories but you must remember the most important piece of furniture is the bar itself. This includes the main bar unit, bar stools, and if you have enough room a wall unit for storing drink bottles, glasses, and accessories. For this reason I definitely recommend buying bar in a unified, matching set. It is the best way to get the look you want, the number of pieces you need, and save a lot of money at the same time.
First, there are some questions you need to ask yourself before buying your home bar furniture set:
1.) How much space have you set aside for your bar?
2.) How many pieces of furniture do you want?
3.) What additional accessories do you require?
4.) What design and color scheme are you looking for?
5.) Where can I find all this at an affordable price?
I will answer each question as if I were the one in the market for a new home bar. At the end I will have a very good idea of what I’m looking for and where to find it at a great discount.
Question number one asks how much space I’ve set aside for my bar. Personally, I will be adding the bar to my finished basement. It will take up about 1/3 of the square footage in my basement, roughly a 12′ x 15′ area to work with. This helps me to understand the dimensions of the bar set I am able to purchase without playing a guessing game.
Number two asks how many pieces of furniture I want with my set. I am looking for a 4-piece set including two bar stools, the main bar unit, and a wall unit for displaying accessories and some decorative art. This narrows down my choices even further since I know exactly the number of pieces I want.
Question number three is important in narrowing down your choices even more. Additional accessories can be anything from a built-in sink for rinsing glasses and dishes to a foot rest attachment around the bottom of the main bar unit. I’m looking for some additional accessories including a rinse sink in the back of the bar unit and some storage cabinets under the bar.
As for design and color scheme, this is obviously nothing more than personal preference. But keep in mind that you should consider your existing decor of the room the bar will be added to. You don’t want your new home bar to clash with anything you already have. As for me, I would like a more traditional dark finished hardwood with some brass accents. You can see that with each answer to our list of questions the final choice gets closer and closer.
The most important question to answer is number five. How can you save money on the home bar of your dreams? The answer is surprisingly quite simple. Shop online! That’s right. You would not believe the incredible deals you can find by shopping online as opposed to a local furniture retailer. The key is that there is so much more competition online due to the sheer number of sellers. This brings prices down as they all compete for our dollars in the huge Internet market. Now that we’ve answered all of the important questions go find exactly what you want. Happy shopping!

When you first decided to set up your own bar, in your mind you had an image of what that bar will look like. Perhaps your image was based on your favorite bars of the past where you and friends bonded, laughed, played pool and passed many a happy evening together. Maybe it was based on popular bar images from movies or television like the place where everybody knows your name – Cheers from the TV situation comedy. But you immediately knew how your bar should look to fit that vision.
But decorating your bar isn’t just about how it looks. The interior design that creates the atmosphere you are looking for is about a feeling that your guests or customers will get when they spend time in your bar. It’s that familiar feeling you know well of walking into a bar that immediately takes you to another world and everything outside the walls of that bar just seems to disappear for a little while. That bar becomes the perfect place of rest, relaxation, friendship and fun.
It is that almost magical quality of a bar to transport you to another place and time and makes the retro look so perfect for the feeling you are trying to achieve. So its worth it to invest in making every detail of your interior design contribute to that fantasy of being in another place and another time. A retro bar table decorating scheme can lead the way in setting that kind of tone. Now, the retro look in bar tables goes through waves of popularity. But if you invest in decorating your bar with a retro feel, those trends will not affect the popularity of your lounge as you see happy social times happening around those bar tables every time your bar is open for business.
The feel of your pub or lounge will be set long before the first coat of paint goes up or the furniture is moved in. It will start with a design that you and your interior decorator develop together to fit that vision in your head. When laying out your bar area, you will make the determination where you will have customers seated or standing and how the traffic flow will work. And by providing the right kind of bar tables at each location, you create centers of energy where groups can gather and have a table at just the right place to rest their drinks and talk and enjoy themselves. Tall bar tables encourage socialization and movement so there is lots of mingling. Tables suited for seating a half dozen of people encourage intimacy, romance and create a space where people will pass hours getting to know each other in your pub.
The interior space of a bar is such a unique environment, there really is no other place like it. It’s at the same time a very adult place and yet the atmosphere is created for simple relaxation to leave the complexities of life outside those doors. But in addition to being a big contributor to the atmosphere of a commercial bar, bar tables can become a great part of your home decorating scheme as well. The tall tables with plenty of room for drinks or dishes can be just the thing for a lawn party or a social event where you want people to circulate and get to know each other.
Bar table manufacturers have a diverse assortment of sizes, heights and designs of tables so when you are looking at a room or space in your home you wish to devote to entertainment, you will be able to find just the right thing. For a smaller space where you want a simple table design that is functional and portable, a small bar table with one or two stools to relax your guests is just the ticket. And this kind of furniture investment won’t break your budget either. And the strong variety of styles and materials which include metal tables, wood bar tables to match the stools or chrome or aluminum to name just a few, means that you can easily make these unique tables fit right into your interior decorating scheme even if that has already been put in place.
As we mentioned concerning a retail bar environment, the retro look seems to be endlessly rejuvenating and always a welcome place for a time of retreat and maybe a few drinks. But most homes are decorated in a contemporary scheme and you are probably looking to develop a bar design that fits your existing decor. But there are many great bar table designs that fit beautifully with an existing contemporary home decor. And if you are using your living room to have double duty as family space and occasional entertainment zone, bar tables and stools are easy to move in and out to transform that area quickly to welcome your guests and entertain them in grand style. Another advantage to the contemporary approach that may help you finalize your decision what design to go with is that contemporary bar tables are usually made of chrome or aluminum with veneer tops So they are very easy to clean and keep nice for many uses over the years.
Its fun to plan and design and then show for what fits your dream room that you want to transform into a sophisticated lounge or bar. And because the planning and designing of your decor for that room is something you can change and develop, you can go from the shopping phase and then back to the drawing board over and over until you have just the right interior design for your bar. The internet opens up that process and makes it go faster because you can browse the different bar table options and then see which fit your vision of what you are trying to achieve.
Many designs will be sold as a table and chair or stool set so you don’t have to worry about matching units together. That can be helpful. But if you feel you want complete creative control, there is plenty of room for that as well. And then if you have put plenty of time and creative thought into just what you want, when you create that wonderful bar atmosphere you are looking for, the bar room furniture will be a perfect fit for a perfect room.

There are dozens of ways to remodel your kitchen. People are spending much more money on renovating this space because the kitchen has become a room for everyone, including guests. The woman of the house no longer locks herself in the kitchen all day slaving away to create the evening meal. The kitchen has become a much more open place where family members wander in and out over the course of the day, snacking and fixing their own breakfast and lunch. They even sometimes pitch in to help with dinner!
As a result, you need to open up your kitchen to allow for more people sharing the space all at once. The best design is an L shaped kitchen with a large refrigerator, sink, and oven that sits along the walls. In order to gain more counter space, you should look into a kitchen island. Kitchen islands look great in L shaped kitchens. Not only does it provide you with an area to chop vegetables and prepare meals, it also gives you storage space. You can place your pots and pans underneath the cabinet as well as use one side as a miniature bookcase for your cookbooks.
The best use for a kitchen island, however, is as a dining area. All you need to do is purchase kitchen barstools to sit at a comfortable height below your island counter and you will have the perfect place for after school snacks, hurried morning breakfasts, and cocktails with your friends. When you and your husband entertain, he usually takes over the living room in order to watch a sports game with the guys. A kitchen island provides the perfect place for exchanging gossip as you ladies sip cosmos and eat snacks. By bringing the party into your kitchen, you save yourself numerous trips to and from another room bringing refills.
Remodel your kitchen into a place that is easy for everyone to use as well as a beautiful place to entertain. You will love how versatile this room becomes. Not only is it a great place to chat with friends, it becomes your daughter’s homework station when she needs your help and your son’s Lego building surface. Redesigning that room with an island and some counter stools is the best decision you will ever make!

When choosing bar tables and chairs the bar owner is faced with a bewildering number of choices from the most modern designs in steel, glass or plastic through to the traditional wooden Colonial, Jacobean or Tudor designs. Prices range from under ten pounds for the cheapest steel framed chairs and even good quality wooden framed chairs can be bought below twenty pounds.
The most traditional styles of bar chairs are taken from old colonial designs and among these the ‘Wheelback’ or ‘Windsor’ chair and the ‘Mates’ or ‘Captains’ chairs are still the most popular choices. These are all wooden chairs and can be a little uncomfortable after a while which is fine if the intention is to get your customers in and out quickly, but if you want to welcome them for an extended stay, during which time they will hopefully spend more money on food and drink, then it’s a good idea to specify chairs with an upholstered seat. Usually this seat has dralon or flatwoven fabric on 1 inch thickness upholstery foam with the fabric stapled to the wooden seat and then finished with decorative brass studding around the edge of the fabric to hide the staples. Bar chairs upholstered in this way look very attractive and many suppliers offer a wide range of patterns and colours of fabric so that the bar chair seats can complement the carpet and decor of the room. The most traditional bar tables are copies of Victorian designs made in cast iron most famously by the Colebrookedale Company. These incorporate very decorative designs sometimes of dolphins or kings or queens heads or the image of Brittania cast into the base. Usually these cast iron tables are finished simply in black, but can be highlighted in gold or painted fully in gold colour to lift the design and give a brighter look to the room. These bar chairs and tables were previously nearly always in dark oak finish for the chairs with dark oak table tops for the bar tables but in more recent years light colours have become popular, with walnut, red mahogany or antique pine being most often chose. Other traditional bar tables use all wooden frames with decoratively turned single or double pedestals being popular. The ‘Refectory’ table is still a welcome choice, having flat table ends that are wasted to add visual interest. The table ends are joined with one or two horizontal stretchers which pass through holes in each end and are secured with simple wooden pegs. This uncomplicated design can still be very effective in a traditionally decorated room when accompanied with Colonial style bar chairs.
Modern bar chairs can be purchased in a wide range of materials with wooden frames still very popular, usually in more angular designs than the traditional bar chairs with gently curving vertical or horizontal slats being the only decoration on the backrest and straight cut rather than ornately turned legs. Many modern bars have moved towards offering comfortable dining for their clients to increase their revenue and to simply attract more people to enjoy their hospitality. Again these bar chairs can be specified with upholstery to the seat or to the seat and back for added comfort. Steel design bar chairs are often chosen because they can be strong and inexpensive at the same time and can be purchased with any frame colour or chrome finish which gives a very fresh aspect to a brightly lit interior. The chrome chairs really benefit from having a colourfully upholstered seat or seat and back and again the fabric can be chosen to enhance to overall look of the interior. If the bar owners main aim is to provide comfortable dining a really popular choice is to use wooden framed leather dining chairs. In the last decade these chairs have become more and more popular as the leather finish gives any venue a classy look. These leather dining chairs are available in a wide variety of leather colours and the wooden legs are available in colours from light oak or pine colour through to the darkest oak or mahogany finish. These chairs have the ideal height for dining and are best suited to a wooden table in an uncomplicated style – for example the Shaker design which uses more simple lines to really good effect. Recently many bar owners have chosen to replace at least some of their regular bar chairs with leather sofas to give maximum comfort to their customers. A few of these in a large room give a really opulent feel and look very inviting indeed. A few bar sofas combined with coffee tables can attract and keep new customers and of course attracting and keeping customers is the most essential consideration for every bar owner.

The cornerstone to every relationship is communication. Families face the same challenges that every relationship does when they do not have the time to communicate. When you have five people going in five different directions all the time, it can be difficult to find the opportunity to catch up with one another. When dinnertime comes around, it is almost impossible to find an hour where everyone can sit down on bar stools and enjoy a meal together. As the parent who cooks, you might spend a few hours in the kitchen every night preparing dinner while your family members run in and out of the house. In this situation, you might need to do a bit of a remodel in order to reconnect with your family.
You should consider knocking out one of your walls and creating a kitchen bar. Ideally, this bar would go between your dining room and kitchen area. You will be surprised how much this remodel opens up both of these rooms. This counter top is a great place on which to set out food and makes it much easier to transfer dishes from one room to the other. You should also invest in some counter barstools. This purchase will create a completely new dining area for your family! Your kids will love sitting at the stools in the morning as they eat breakfast. It is also the perfect place for you to transform into a grab-and- go dinner station. The best news is that you will be able to talk with them for the few minutes as they are eating at the bar and you are preparing the next meal in the kitchen. You will love seeing more of your kids and husband even if it is only for a few moments at a time!
Kitchen counter stools usually stand around 30 to 31 inches. If you are interested in creating a higher bar however, you need to keep your eye out for extra tall bar stools. Your family will love this bar area because it is so convenient and you will love it because it allows you to spend more time with them. Finding ways to reconnect with your family is not difficult; you just need to get creative! Something as simple as opening up a wall and adding a few counter barstools can do more than you ever thought possible.
